The February Baby Sweater by Elizabeth Zimmermann, Knitter’s Almanac.
Yarn: Stashbusting Red Heart Super Saver acrylic (cringe cringe cringe… but I prefer to use easy care fibers for other folks’ kids. You just never know what will happen!)
Needles: US sz. 7 / 4.50 mm
Gauge and Size: Umm, I don’t check. Maybe 4 sts per inch? Yielding a 12 month size.
Obviously I abandoned the pink buttons and trim idea. It just didn’t do it for me. And I had these buttons already.
Timeframe: started Thursday, Feb 7th. Finished Saturday, Feb 9th. Extremely fast.
Verdict: Cute! Fast! Get me a baby right now!!
Very cute sweater! Luckily the Red Heart softens a bit when you wash it. 🙂
I love this sweater. It’s been on my list for ages. And how cute is your little guy up at the top there in his pirate hat!
Are you just a speedy knitter, or is that really a doable timeframe. I just was invited to a shower March 10th. I know I need some EZ books. Isn’t this one in the Almanac. I’ll have to put it on the list.
I love the sweater and the color. I was just telling my husband how tow people so far apart can think alike. I just adopted a puppy from Build a Bear workshop and I wanted to knit her the February Baby Sweater as well 🙂
I was shocked to see it on your adorable bear. But it is gorgeous and your Bear is huggable.
COngrats !

Hey, I’m cooking as fast as I can! The bun won’t come out of the oven for another 4 months or so – darn slow cookers. ;P
People who don’t appreciate the care wool takes are silly. Even though I know babies need to be changed seven times a day. Still even in acrylic (ugh!), it’s a lovely sweater.
How sweet!!
don’t worry about using wool for other people’s babies. they will use it. and most wool can be washed in the washing machine anyway. i wash even my tailored jackets in the washing machine. it is not as impractical as people tend to believe. i love this pattern. enjoyed all the sweaters i knitted. alba used her for months and months to come.
Another gorgeous pattern I must add to my “when I have another grandbaby coming” stack.
This is my all time favourite wee baby sweater. I’ve knitted three of them already and have developed a wee baby beanie to go with it too. I love the thickness and the warmth of the colour too. Well executed. 🙂
I second that verdict!!! It’s gorgeous!!! I might have to do that one too!!! Monkey see, monkey do.
