What I have here is more denial. As my sewing keeps encountering obstacles ie. my blouse looks horrible and doesn’t fit and I’ll have to start a 3rd attempt here soon….
The grey stocking was started yesterday afternoon. I finished it tonight. Aside from the power of avoidance and denial, I’ve never really appreciated the efficiency of knitting socks with DK weight yarn on sz. 3 needles and absolutely no patterning. Wow. It comes halfway over the knee joint and weighs nearly 100 gms, but garters come with the outfit.
It makes my leg look like a barrel but is true to everything I can find about utility stockings in Denmark. I actually brought this yarn home from Denmark 8 years ago. Faithful in my attempt to work like a folk knitter I used no pattern or instructions at all. This was my first time turning a heel without help but since I know the theory now it went quite smoothly.
So, sewing is not progressing too well. I’ve made 2 blouses so far and they both suck. The cloth for my skirt is still patiently laying on my bed… So perhaps I’ll wear my historic folk underwear with handknit stockings and leave the other stuff for next year….
