…That’s what we bought at Costco today, for a gi-normous batch of cookies, because……
Now we ready for the birthday party, and I can work on anything I like! Yippee!!!
Notes: these are for a set of 4 year old twins that we are good friends with. The inspiration was Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Fishtrap Aran from Knitter’s Almanac. I sized it down with EPS and used her seamless construction guidelines. Both were knit at 5 sts/in in stockinette using US sz. 6 needles and Red Heart 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn. I rarely knit with wool for other folks kids….
The blue one has Fishtrap knitted front and back, with plain stockinette between the pattern panels and on the sleeves. There is one 5 stitch ribbed cable running down each sleeve. The bottom is started with a contrast hem knit on 90% of the body sts. Shoulders follow normal raglan shaping. And I just noticed that my second skein of yarn is slightly off color. Look about 2-3 inches below the neck line. Oh well.
The maroon sweater has Fishtrap on the front, and ribbed cables down the center back and sleeves. The rest of the sweater was knit in K2 P2 ribbing. The shoulder shaping is a combination of raglan and saddle shoulder decreasing. The yarn was for some reason very fuzzy and coarse and I discovered that dryer lint collected in all the ribs. Note to self- next time just spring the extra bucks for a good superwash or blend. Oh well.
So there you have it. I’m a free woman !!!! back to the dye pot….
