I am my father’s daughter. Friday evening of spring break he says he’d like to go on an outing Sunday.
“Picnic at Ecola [State Park]” I pipe up.
Alrighty, so Sunday morning found us all piled in the van headed south for an adventure. As we turned into the park it started hailing. Oh well, we’re going anyway. We walked, and looked at the lighthouse, and looked for whales, and picked daisies, and then we had a wonderful picnic.
After lunch Pepere, the kids and I hiked the 2-ish miles from Ecola Beach to Indian beach while Memere drove over in the van so the kids wouldn’t have to make the round trip. That was quite a hike for little legs. Up and down, mud and cliffs, beautiful views, amazing forests. The kids made the hike without any problems. No complaining, no carrying, I was impressed. They’re such great little fellows. Hiking with them was a joy. We’ll have to build up their legs for longer adventures. Nikolai still wants to hike up to see the crater on Mt. St. Helens. Anyway.
After the hike we played on the beach for another hour before heading home. Gabriel needed a 3 hour nap after all that.
Great adventure. We’ll be doing that again.
