In case you didn’t know, this weekend in the US Open, one of the biggest events in golf. My father loves to watch golf, my sons love to watch golf, and golf is fantastic for knitting. Check it out: Yesterday afternoon I had 4 inches of leg done…. and now…..

Golf is just interesting enough to keep me sitting there, pins in hand, to see that next shot. And the next… And the next… And the next… But not so interesting that I can’t concentrate on a pattern or heel or gusset. Golf is great.
So Scandinavian Festival is tomorrow. I’ve had a pretty stressful week and didn’t get much sewing done. I’ll fudge the blouse and wear a brown skirt instead of green. No one will notice anyway. I’ve scouted out all the knit/wool/fiber vendors and I’m ready to go. But what about the spending cap??? That’s a harder question for any knitter….
I’d like to find a nostepinde since I wind all my wool by hand anyway. That seems like an appropriate accessory.
In other notes: I’ve been working on my handdye Tomten and I’m just not thrilled with it. It looks neat, but it’s just not pleasant to knit. The wool is so full of lanolin that it doesn’t move easily over the needles no matter how loosely I’m knitting. My hands and wrists were aching. I’m just not sure if it’s worth it. There must be some smaller project that would be less weight to push around with the hands.
I think my network/internet connection just fizzled. I’ll try to post this anyway, and come back with Festival pictures tomorrow!

Maybe I should take up watching golf.
The socks look great!!!! I shall call your socks, socks because they deserve to be called by name instead of *oc*s. They definitely know how to behave or you know how to calm the beast and put them into subjection. So far my *oc*s are doing great, either I have conquered or they were accused wrongly and it wasn’t their fault but the double crossing pattern. Have fun at the festival and try not to act like me when it comes to purchases, way out of control. Have you thought about knitting the lanolin filled fleece outside? They say the heat causes the lanolin to kinda melt making it much more pliable.
The Jaywalkers look great. I frogged the one of mine that I had halfway down the foot when I realized that no way would it fit at that gauge
In response to Peggy-the-commenter, sounds like a great idea, bt it has to be warm outside for that to work. Remember, this is *OR*, which is about as warm in June as San Francisco (as immortalized by Mark Twain) – possibly less so.
I wanna hear all about the Festival!!!!
I love knitted socks…I just hate knitting them. I have not figured out why yet. These are great socks! And I might have to try a nostepinde…I have a ball winder, but I actually like winding the balls myself, but of course they are not center pull. Hmm…
oh yes knitting can carry your away. they are beautiful. i knit a few socks in the past but it is a long time ago. maybe something to take up again. oh i am so fascinated by your scandinavian festival. have fun peggy. and now i have to find out exactly what a nøstepind is. i will get you one if you don’t get one at the festival.
The jaywalkers look fantastic. I love finding shows that I can watch and knit at the same time!
Golf IS the perfect sport for knitting, as well as spinning. I started a pair of legwarmers this past weekend and was able to frog and re-cast on about three times during the Tour Championship alone! LOL
Your socks look great BTW
Oh, and I forgot to say, I am doing the Tomten too…wish me luck!
