The Figure 8 Cast-On. Yay! Now I can make toe-up socks! I’m not, but now I can.
Thank you HelloYarn for the fabulous tutorial. Can you guess what I’m making? (hint: Mandy recently finished an extremely cute one)
Umm… I didn’t check, but is this the same as the Middle Eastern Cast-On recently published in IK?

I believe so. I used it on my Monk Socks.
Looking good, whatever it is!
Ooh! You’re making the Top-Down bonnet from Hello Yarn. Pretty!
I thought the same thing once I did the cast-on. Not that I’m making any toe-up socks yet. But the option is now completely there.
Is the yarn you’re using white? That’s gonna be a cutie!
Oooo, I hope you’re making the top down bonnet, that one Mandy made looks adorable! And if Mandy is reading, those two sheep she also made are awesome! I want one!
Can’t wait to see your bonnet!
Love,
Heather
One day I WILL find the time to try this method. I look forward to seeing the end result…
Congrats! Are you making some kind of cozy?
The only thing I don’t like about the figure eight is that you have to tighten up the first loops later because they are so loose. Yours looks perfect, though. I have to admit I’m a magic girl myself.
it is nice to cruise into learning new techniques. i have been wanting to make that bonnet as well. it is cute. too bad one doesn’t have some more time for performing one’s knitting skills. there is just so many things i want to try to knit.
Well, you know my present feelings about *oc*s. I made a pair using the toe up, not sure how I feel about like. Maybe I’m old and stuff in my ways.
Hmmm, I think I’ll wait and be surprised when you reveal the finished product.
Love the figure 8 cast on and the magic cast on! Perfect start for toe-up socks.
I love this! I like doing socks toe up and this works great…now if I could just get over hating to knit socks…
